This is my version of the image of the Divine Mercy as given in private revelation to St. Faustina Kowalska.
The red rays symbolize the blood of Christ, which gives life to souls. The white rays symbolize water, which makes our souls clean and holy. Both rays burst forth from the heart of Jesus overflowing with mercy; the same heart from which blood and water poured out after being pierced with a lance. These rays of blood and water, life and righteousness, shield us from what we would otherwise deserve.
Mercy is God’s greatest attribute. We are beginning to understand the great mystery that is God when we trust in His mercy. Jesus gave up His life to offer us pardon. Let us not offend Him further by putting a limit on His infinite mercy but let us recite, with a contrite heart and with faith, the prayer He gave to St. Faustina for the conversion of any sinner:
‘O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fount of Mercy for us, I trust in You.’
