Marriage

The top, left corner of the painting is the beginning, when God created us male and female, and complementary to one another. Male and female are symbolized by black semi-circles; one sex points one way while the other sex points in the opposite direction.

From the beginning, God ordained marriage for the purpose of pro-creating and the loving union of one man and one woman; the semi-circles are joined together to form a circle and are now one body. Holy Matrimony is shown by the yellow rings around the circles. God has united these couples for as long as both shall live and protects them with His grace, provided that they both seek it.

This painting shows the movement from an orderly beginning on the left to the present age on the right, where wholesome, sacramental marriages stand out in a swarm of illicit unions. Marital bliss can only be had by following its Author’s design.
